The S-Works Tarmac SL8 is unmatched in speed. Its advanced aerodynamics and lightweight design deliver a riding quality that once seemed unattainable. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it is not just the fastest Tarmac ever made – it’s the fastest racing bike in the world. Are you ready?
Aero-Avantgarde: For us, aerodynamics focus on surfaces that truly matter, not just those that look best. With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic racing bike to date. Yes, it is more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 better maintains airflow, with its front surface tapering to a finer point. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and along with it, the streamlined cross-section of the head tube significantly reduces drag. Additionally, in accordance with the new UCI regulations, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever for the Tarmac SL8. This allows the fast-moving turbulent air to cleanly flow around the legs. A bike tuned for victory.
MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 leverages insights from the development of the Aethos and effortlessly meets the UCI weight limit, all while featuring a complete aero setup. Our team has engineered an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike in the World Tour. The fact that Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos, which has a frame weight of only 585 grams, during a tour stage doesn’t quite count. New technologies have allowed us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end on the Tarmac, as the new frame shape distributes loads so efficiently that additional carbon layers for added stiffness are no longer necessary.
LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a substantial improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio – an astonishing 33% increase over the SL7 – the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-tested geometry to a new level. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more forgiving at the saddle, setting new standards for performance and comfort in racing bikes. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of their size, enjoys the same quality and handling. At the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance, gliding smoothly over rough roads – a unique feature in the high-stakes world of cycling. When conditions demand it, the bike's 32 mm tire clearance allows for larger volume tires to be used.
