Yes, it’s more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow better because the front surface tapers to a finer point. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and it allows the more streamlined cross-section of the head tube to generate significantly less air resistance. Additionally, in line with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever. This enables the rapidly moving turbulent air around the legs to flow off more cleanly. A bike with a sense for victory. MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 utilizes insights from the development of the Aethos and effortlessly meets the UCI weight limit, all within a complete aero setup. Our team has engineered an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike in the World Tour. It’s worth noting that Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos during a Tour stage, whose frame weighs only 585 grams, but that’s somewhat beside the point. The new technical capabilities allowed us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end on the Tarmac, as the new frame shape distributes load so efficiently that additional carbon layers for increased stiffness are no longer necessary. BLISTERING ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a remarkable 33% improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio compared to the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-tested geometry to new heights. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more forgiving in the saddle, setting new standards for performance and comfort in racing bikes.
