IF you remember mountain biking in the 90’s at all, or even the early 2000’s, you likely remember seeing Tinker Juarez on the front of a cross country race.
Tinkers Juarez age-defying competitive cross country career spanned decades, from the late 1980’s through to the early 2000’s. The American legend still races, though his focus has shifted to longer marathon and endurance style events.
Burned into the memory of many a Tinker fan are the Volvo-Cannondale Team’s series of blue CAAD frames, raced from 1998 through 2002. Cannondale recently released a limited run of retro F-Si Hi-Mod framesets paying tribute to the iconic 90’s CAAD bikes, as well as the viper red F2000 Tinker raced in 1995.
Tinker Juarez, three time US national champion, silver medalist at the World Championships, gold medalist at the Pan Am Games and member of both the 1996 and 2000 US Olympic teams has added another national title, the NORBA 24 Hour Solo championship. In Septemeber 2001 Tinker was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.
