The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow more effectively, as the front surface tapers to a sharper point. We refer to it as the Speed Sniffer, and its streamlined cross-section drastically reduces air resistance. Additionally, in line with the new UCI regulations, we developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seatpost ever for the Tarmac SL8, allowing turbulent air to flow away more cleanly around the legs. MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 incorporates insights from the Aethos’s development, easily reaching the UCI weight limit while maintaining a full aero setup. Our team has crafted an exceptional frame weighing 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any World Tour bike. Although Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos, which has a frame weighing just 585 grams, that’s somewhat irrelevant. The new technological advancements enabled us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end of the Tarmac, as the new frame shape distributes forces so effectively that extra layers of carbon for added stiffness are no longer necessary. LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to an incredible 33% improvement in stiffness-to-weight ratio over the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-proven geometry to new heights. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more compliant in the saddle, setting new standards for performance and comfort in racing bikes.
