The S-Works Tarmac SL8 is unbeatable in speed. Its advanced aerodynamics and lightweight design create a ride quality that once seemed unattainable. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it’s not just the fastest Tarmac ever made – it is the fastest racing bike in the world. Are you ready?
Aero Avant-Garde: Here, aerodynamics is all about the surfaces that truly matter, not just those that look the best. With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic racing bike to date. And yes, it's more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow efficiency better, as the front surface tapers more sharply. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and with it, the streamlined cross-section of the head tube generates significantly less drag. Additionally, in line with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever. This allows turbulent air to flow cleanly around the legs. A bike with a sense for victory.
MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 leverages insights gained from the Aethos development to easily meet the UCI weight limit, all while maintaining a full aero setup. Our team has crafted an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike in the World Tour. The fact that Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos on a tour stage, which has a frame weight of only 585 grams, doesn't really count. The new technical possibilities allowed us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end for the Tarmac, as the new frame shape distributes loads so efficiently that additional carbon layers for extra stiffness are no longer needed.
LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a remarkable 33% improvement in rigidity-to-weight ratio compared to the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-proven geometry to new heights. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more compliant in the saddle, setting new benchmarks for performance and comfort in racing bikes. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of size, enjoys the same ride quality and handling. In the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance. It glides smoothly over rough roads – truly unique in the high-stakes world of racing. And if conditions require it, tires with a larger volume can be fitted, thanks to the 32 mm tire clearance.
