While aerodynamics played a crucial role in the Tarmac’s design and in the creation of all our racing bicycles, weight was a key consideration as well. Historically, “aero bikes” tended to be heavier—the reduction of drag often came at the cost of added weight. With the latest Tarmac, our aim was to meet or stay below the UCI weight limit right out of the box, without compromising aerodynamics. Utilizing the FreeFoil Shape Library, isotopic FEA analysis, and advanced engineering by top experts in the field, we produced a frame that weighs only 920 grams, without sacrificing aerodynamic performance, stiffness, or ride quality. In our ongoing effort to perfect the race bike, we applied our Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to ensure the new Tarmac is the most balanced and best-handling version yet—regardless of size. Collaborating with elite test riders from our three World Tour Teams—Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe—we made refinements based on their extensive experience on the road. We optimized the ride quality between the front and rear, ensuring long rides remain comfortable without compromising the Tarmac’s renowned handling and race-ready responsiveness. Building on insights gained from the Venge, the new Tarmac integrates a simplified design for a sleek, fast cockpit that's practical for everyday use. We’ve enhanced cable routing for various setups—mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round bars, etc.—while maintaining aerodynamic efficiency. These attributes also make the new Tarmac easier to service and travel with, resulting in a favorable outcome for all users.
