Still my favorite I have SRAM, Shimano, and Magura components of all sorts and all levels on several bikes. Shimano components are my favorite and eventually everything will be Shimano. Typically I don't go out of my way to buy XT or higher because I don't feel like the weight savings or features are necessarily worth the money. The one exception is the XT shift lever. Something about the feel of the levers and clicks is just so much better than the SLX lever. Brakes, cassettes, etc., no real reason to by XT unless you are worried about weight. Shift lever however, XT is noticeably better.
