Best price-performance ratio 220triathlon.com awards these the highest rating of 92% and calls them the "Best clipless pedals for triathlon," although it notes that the Shimano PD-R8000, rated at 90%, are the "best overall pedals for triathlon." I am not at a technical level to resolve this slight discrepancy, but I can at least confirm that these SPD-SL pedals are reliable, robust, and well-made, making them suitable for triathlon. Additionally, they seem to offer the best price-performance ratio, and the premium for other pedals is difficult to justify. Therefore, I am very satisfied with the purchase, although one should certainly consider whether they feel secure with clipless pedals. Especially uphill, there is little time to click in, and it takes a lot of effort to start, which can lead to slipping and even falling. Personally, I reverted to platform pedals for everyday use, as I had issues with all the stop signs on inclines, and since my fellow humans seem to think they need to drive huge SUVs and don’t keep enough distance, I prefer to avoid falls. However, if one decides to go for them, the pedals are an excellent choice. Furthermore, yellow cleats are included in the package.
