The new Tarmac SL7 Comp has been designed for speed—extremely fast speed, without a doubt. However, it represents much more than just aerodynamic prowess and cutting through the wind. Thanks to its lightweight frame and Rider-First Engineered™ concept, it guarantees the best possible riding characteristics across all frame sizes. So, whatever your goals may be—whether it's a personal record, a KOM, or a spot on the podium—the Tarmac SL7 will help you achieve them. One bike to conquer them all.
Equipped with the new Shimano 105 Di2 group with 12 speeds, which has now won over even the most skeptical riders, and the fast-rolling Turbo Pro tires in a 700 × 26 mm size, the new Tarmac SL7 Comp offers performance at an affordable price.
Aerodynamics were a top priority during the development of the Tarmac, as with all of our race bikes, but weight remains a co-pilot in this journey to the perfect racing bike. Previously, aero bikes were always associated with weight compromises – reducing air resistance often required adding material in critical areas. With the Tarmac SL7, our sole objective was to keep the weight at or below the UCI weight limit without sacrificing aerodynamic efficiency. Using the FreeFoil Shape Library, isotopic Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and a touch of engineering finesse from some of the best minds in the industry, we accomplished this. The FACT 9r carbon frame weighs just 1010 g, without compromising on aerodynamics, stiffness, or ride quality.
In our quest to develop the perfect racing bike, we adhere to our Rider First Engineered™ philosophy. The Tarmac SL7 is designed to be the most balanced and manageable Tarmac—regardless of frame size. With a team of top athletes from our three World Tour teams—SD Worx, Soudal Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe—we have made adjustments to the Tarmac based on their experiences from thousands of kilometers ridden. We balanced the ride quality between the front and rear wheels, ensuring even the longest days in the saddle remain comfortable. Of course, this doesn't mean sacrificing the legendary handling and racing speed that the Tarmac is known for.
Building on the knowledge gained from developing the Venge, the Tarmac SL7 features straightforward integrations to provide a clean and fast cockpit. We have improved cable routing for every component configuration—mechanical shifting units, traditional stems, round handlebars, etc.—while maintaining its aerodynamic attributes. These same features also simplify servicing the Tarmac SL7 and enable seamless transitions from race to race.
