The S-Works Tarmac SL8 is unmatched in speed. Its advanced aerodynamics and lightweight design offer a ride quality that once seemed unattainable. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it is not only the fastest Tarmac ever made, but it is also the fastest road bike in the world. Are you ready?
Aero Avant-Garde: Here, the surfaces that truly matter are the aerodynamic ones, not just those that look good. With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic racing bike ever. And yes, it is more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow better, as the front surface tapers to a point. We refer to it as the Speed Sniffer, which, with its streamlined cross-section, creates significantly less air resistance. Furthermore, in line with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever. This allows the fast-moving turbulent air to flow more cleanly around the legs. A bike with a sense of victory.
MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMAL AERO: The Tarmac SL8 leverages insights from the development of the Aethos and effortlessly meets the UCI weight limit, all while maintaining a complete aero setup. Our team has engineered an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams—15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike in the World Tour. The fact that Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos, whose frame weighs only 585 grams, in a Tour stage doesn't really count. The new technical possibilities enabled us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end of the Tarmac, as the new frame shape distributes load so efficiently that additional carbon layers for increased stiffness are no longer necessary.
LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a remarkable 33% improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio compared to the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-proven geometry to a new level. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more forgiving in the saddle, thus setting new standards in performance and comfort for racing bikes. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of their size, enjoys the same ride quality and handling. At the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 provides 6% more compliance, gliding smoothly over rough roads—unique in the high-stakes world of road cycling. And when conditions demand it, tire clearance for 32 mm allows for the use of larger volume tires.
