The S-Works Tarmac SL8 frame set is unbeatable in speed. Its advanced aerodynamics and lightweight design provide a riding quality that once seemed out of reach. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it is not only the fastest Tarmac ever made – it is the fastest road bike in the world. Are you ready?
Aerodynamics and low weight alone do not win races – it's all about speed at the finishing line. Achieving race speed requires a specific balance of aerodynamics, weight, stiffness, and compliance. Our Ride Science Team has discovered through race simulations using real data that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike ever built on critical routes. It's a staggering 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds faster in the Milano–Sanremo, and 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet.
AERO-AVANTGARDE: For us, aerodynamics focus on the surfaces that truly matter, not just those that look the best. With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic road bike ever. And yes, it is more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow more effectively, as the front surface tapers to a sharper point. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and it allows the streamlined cross-section of the head tube to create significantly less air resistance. Furthermore, in alignment with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post to date. This helps the rapidly moving turbulent air to flow cleanly around the legs. A bike with a keen sense for victory.
MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 utilizes insights from the development of the Aethos and easily meets the UCI weight limit, even with a complete aero setup. Our team has created an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than all other bikes in the World Tour. While Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos, with a frame weight of only 585 grams, that’s beside the point. The new technical possibilities enabled us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end, as the new frame shape distributes the load so efficiently that extra carbon layers for additional stiffness are no longer necessary.
