With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic road bike to date, which is indeed more aerodynamic than the Venge. The redesigned head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow more effectively, with a front surface that tapers more sharply. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and this streamlined head tube section generates significantly less drag. Additionally, in line with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever. This allows the quickly moving turbulent air to flow cleaner around the legs. A bike with a keen sense of victory. MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: The Tarmac SL8 applies insights from the Aethos development and comfortably meets the UCI weight limit while using a full aero setup. Our team has developed an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams—15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike on the World Tour. Kasper Asgreen riding our Aethos, which has a frame weight of just 585 grams, doesn't quite count. The new technical capabilities enabled us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end, as the new frame shape distributes loads so efficiently that additional carbon layers for added stiffness are no longer necessary. LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a remarkable 33% improvement in stiffness-to-weight ratio compared to the SL7, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-tested geometry to a new level. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more flexible at the saddle, setting new standards for performance and comfort in competitive bikes.
