Product Description

The Tarmac SL8 is unbeatable in speed. Its advanced aerodynamics and lightweight design provide a ride quality that seemed unattainable. After eight generations and over twenty years of development, it is not only the fastest Tarmac ever made, but it is also the fastest road bike in the world. Are you ready? Aerodynamics and low weight alone do not win races - it ultimately comes down to speed at the finish line. Achieving race speed requires a specific balance of aerodynamics, lightweight design, stiffness, and compliance. Our Ride Science Team has conducted race simulations using real data and found that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike ever built on critical segments. It's a whopping 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds quicker at Milano-Sanremo, and 20 seconds faster on the Tourmalet. Aero-Avantgarde: At our company, we focus on the surfaces that truly matter for aerodynamics, not just those that look best. With this philosophy, we have created our most aerodynamic road bike to date - and yes, it is more aerodynamic than the Venge. The newly designed head tube of the Tarmac SL8 maintains airflow more effectively, as the surface at the front tapers to a sharper point. We call it the Speed Sniffer, and this streamlining of the head tube cross-section results in significantly less air resistance. Furthermore, in line with the new UCI regulations for the Tarmac SL8, we have developed the narrowest and most aerodynamic Specialized seat post ever, which allows the rapidly moving air to flow cleaner around the legs. This bike has a keen sense of victory. Minimal weight, maximum aerodynamics: The Tarmac SL8 leverages insights from the development of the Aethos, easily meeting the UCI weight limit with a complete aero setup. Our team has crafted an incredible frame that weighs just 685 grams - 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bikes in the World Tour. Kasper Asgreen riding our Aethos, which has a frame weight of only 585 grams during a Tour stage, doesn't really count. The new technical possibilities enabled us to optimize the weight of the down tube, seat tube, and rear end on the Tarmac, as the new frame shape efficiently distributes load, eliminating the need for additional carbon layers for enhanced stiffness. It accelerates fiercely and rides heavenly: Thanks to a remarkable 33% improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio, the Tarmac SL8 elevates the legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-tested geometry to new heights. The bike is stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more compliant at the saddle, setting new benchmarks for road bike performance and comfort. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of size, enjoys the same ride quality and handling. At the saddle, the Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance, gliding smoothly over rough roads - a unique trait in the high-stakes world of road cycling. The geometry of the Tarmac SL8, with 32 mm tire clearance, mirrors the proven geometry of the SL7 used in the World Tour. Gender-neutral: Our product development experience indicates that there can be more differences between two riders of the same gender than between two riders of different genders. Gender alone does not provide a sufficient basis for gender-specific geometries. Therefore, frames specifically designed for men or women are unwarranted and outdated. With a Tarmac SL8 for everyone, any rider can gain that crucial advantage. S-Works Frame Set: With a 68 mm wide threaded bottom bracket, flat mount for disc brakes, and seamless integration, the S-Works Tarmac SL8 frame set serves as the perfect foundation for your dream build.
