For a first foray into the realm of lightweight electric mountain bikes, it can be said that Yeti has certainly hit the mark. Of course, I didn’t really find my rhythm climbing with this TQ motor, which is more suited to assist a cross-country or gravel e-MTB than a model that is quite close to a small enduro... However, with the arrival of the new update that brings more power to the motor, now with 55 Nm and 350 watts of assistance, the climbing performance in true off-road conditions is noticeably more enjoyable and much more effective than with the previous version. From there, I quickly understood how the system worked and the philosophy to adopt in order to get the best out of it and have fun. Thus, as I went on more rides, I adapted to the performance of the small motor, and by relying on the many qualities of the Yeti MTe's frame, I managed to conquer climbs that I never thought possible with a TQ motor! Including some relatively steep and technical sections. Because it’s the excellent carbon frame of this bike, with its unique kinematics and radial tires, that allows you to forget the lack of power and torque on significant climbs. The Yeti has an incredible ability to assist its rider in difficult sections, which is truly unprecedented and quite impressive. And on descents, this is where the MTe truly shines, giving the sensation of riding an enduro mountain bike without a motor. Stable, agile, lively, and precise, it remains quite comfortable despite its great rigidity. In short, I had a fantastic time on it, and I can say that, in the end, it’s an excellent surprise for me. And even though it’s not equipped with the most powerful “light” motorization on the market, it is by far the best lightweight electric mountain bike I’ve had the chance to try! It just goes to show that when a bike is well-designed... I strongly recommend that those who can afford such an e-MTB and wish to transition between traditional and lightweight assistance go try the Yeti MTe... Whether climbing or descending, they will almost feel like they are riding an enduro mountain bike without a motor and without a battery, all while enjoying a gentle pedaling assistance that won’t make them feel like they’re in a different dimension. You’ll see, it’s something special!
