Safe and very practical! We have these on our bikes and e-bikes. We never take the baskets off. We just place the utensils directly inside. We've been using them for over ten years. It's simply perfect. I can highly recommend it. A new purchase was only necessary due to an accident; otherwise, they are virtually indestructible. TIP: Sew a bike vest around them, and you'll be visible in traffic at all times.

Basket does not dis/mount easily onto the Pletscher rack - much better alternatives available The 3-pin mounting onto the rack is poorly designed, clumsy, hard to take basket on/off. I have bought an alternative system for my other bike which is way better (and similar price).
